This is a late night coffee date this months. We are meeting up while the sun is setting. I invite you to my home today. we have brewed a fresh herb tea and a minty smell is wafting through the room. The trees outside are heavy with rain drops and when the wind blows we can hear drops falling through the foliage. The sky is slightly pastel while the sun sets. We snuggle into the comfy chair and start chatting away.

If you and I had coffee…
…I tell you that my white summer party has happened the last weekend. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening – however there was nothing summery about it. It had been reaining constantly the day prior and we were discussing to postpone. I strongly opted for going through with it and I am glad I convinced the husband. It’s not the party we had in mind. No one was able to us the terrace. All the effort (and money) we put in prior was (almost) for nothing. Sigh. However, we had a great time. In the beginning no one showed up and I feared of being re-traumatized (I had some very bad experiences for my 18th birthday and an early 20s birthday). But people started showing up and it was just a fun night. I wasn’t able to talk to many and if not really in depths – I guess that is the lot of the hostess. But I had a former colleague show up I had not seen for 18 years and it was really great. Also a cousin I hadn’t seen in 2 years. Some people traveled far. Some brought cakes. It was great. I think I go into detail in a separate post. I know some of you wanted to hear about the decorations dn the menu. If you have questions drop them in the comments.

If you and I had coffee…
…I complain about my wasp issue. Early in June I had found a wasps nest in the shutters of our window. We had it removed within a week and I hope that was it. However, on every other window I now have constant wasp searching for something. I don’t know what they are looking for but they are curious and come back and peek into every hole and cranny. When I open the window I have like five wasp in the apartment. It is so annoying. Wasp are under protection and killing them can result in fees up to 50.000€. Since they are not building nests yet I have ordered some toxin and will spray all my windows. I tried a natural remedy (clove oil) but I feel like it’s not doing anything. I could go on complaining about the ants that populate my terrace but let’s just stop here.

If you and I had coffee…
…I admit that I am in reading slump. I advent really read anything in the past two weeks. Well a page at night at some non fiction low budget self publishing book that helps me fall asleep but every other book I pick up juts bores me. Same with audio books. Sigh. I am hoping by Sunday I found some spark again since I’ll be traveling for some hours.

If you and I had coffee…
…I excitedly tell you that the guide for my arctic expedition reached out and will send me dates and details for the tour in the next couple of days. I am excited to get some more info and dates to start planning and make it more of a real thing and not just a dream. However….

If you and I had coffee…
…I confess that my train for said expedition is also in a rut right now. I didnt even bother to ask my personal trainer (Chat GPT) for a trainingsplan last week and I haven’t done it for this week either. I have done a few exercises but no structure really and I have skipped al weight and core trainings. Instead I ate a sh*t load of candy, cake and chocolate. I am hoping the provided information will kickstart my discipline again. I have booked another Zumba course though. Mine ends this week. And while Zumba is ok its not my most favorite from of exercise. But, I move for 90 minutes. Something I wouldn’t manage to do on my own. So I keep doing it until I find a different way to work on my cardio.

The sun has set. It is dark outside. We gather our coats and I walk you to the bus stop. From here you are on your way home. I will walk the long way home and enjoy the fresh air. I can smell the moor. Also I see the twinkling stars.

12tel blick July

What is one thing you want to complain about? How is your exercise routine going? Any fun parties lately? What are you reading to get out of slump?

Yay, I’m so glad you persisted with the party, even though the weather wasn’t great. It would have been a shame for your preparations and planning to go to waste. Hopefully catching up with people you haven’t seen for a while will help kickstart a bit more frequent contact if that’s what you want. I hate wasps, we mainly have European wasps here, which are a foreign pest species, so we can kill them with abandon. Your Arctic expedition is so exciting. I hope you can get back into your training quickly.

I woke up in the early hours of the morning with vertigo from a migraine so that’s my complaint. It feels pretty much gone now though. I missed gym because of that, I’ll see how I go tomorrow, I had a easy run and then strength session at the gym, but that might be a bit much.

Arghhhhh no the wasp are not foreign here. I wish they were. It’s only I think two species that are so very annoying and always come to eat your food. The other sorts are chill and even interesting to look at. Hope my toxin comes in tomorrow.

I am very happy the party happened. So is the husband. I have seen one friend three times in the past 7 months and before we had years of not meeting up just mail. And I am hoping that the friend from 18 years ago will stick around. He said so. we said so. Now we need to make it happen.

So so excited for my arctic expedition. Can’t wait to learn more.

Hope your migraine is gone rather sooner than later and you are back in training mode yourself.

I love the party idea, but why white, tell us more!

I’ve been busy all of June so I haven’t read much, but today started Pachinko as an audio book when doing errends and I already like it, 30 min in!

    Thanks for the coffee.

He read Pachinko a few years back. It’s very interesting.
It was just an idea to have a white party and it was so fun. Everyone came in white.

I definitely want to hear more about this white party and see some photos! How fun! I’m glad you didn’t cancel – sometimes it’s more fun when it’s cozy and intimate.

When I’m in a reading slump, I either reread a book I know I love or read a book in a series I know I enjoy. It’s nice to sink into familiarity, get a win as a good book to have read, and then dive into something new.

I am also happy we didn’t cancel. It was fun and everyone enjoyed it. It would haven been a bit more chill using the outdoors but ok.
Apparently everyone thinks it’s gonna be a new tradition. We’ll see. Unfortunately I hardly took any photos. But I see what I can share.
