Inspired by Engie’s monthly accountability posts and a way of trying to push myself on the health and fitness front I decided to give this post format a go. I am not sure I will continue it throughout the year put for now I will. It will also give me a way to save some good yoga classes & exercises and come back to them.
Feel free to skip ahead if this post is of no interest to you. I understand.

Observations I made
- I like yoga. No matter the minutes it always feels good. I hope to carry that through the year.
- I like silent or minimal cue yoga.
- I currently prefer classes by Kassandra. Her tone of voice is not so esoteric and she doesn’t babble so much.
- Even after sickness and absence from exercise I was able to do an intermitted class. Yeah.
- It’s confirmed I hate dead bugs and bird dog exercises. The worst of the worst.
A few other Stats
- doing yoga daily, total of 753 minutes averaging to 24 minutes a day.
- walking over 10.000 steps/day on 5 days, total of 139.6km and an average of 6.631 daily steps (88.4% of goal). This was not a very good month. Sigh.
- doing strength training 4 times averaging 35 min each.
- closing my apple rings only once.
- riding my bike a total of 6.25km. It’s been too icy and safety comes first.
I also want to share that Julie is inviting us all to do Saturday Yoga together in February. I missed the live session for the kick-off but I think I will join in for the remaining Saturdays. She gathered a bunch of resources for us.
How is your training going? Any milestones you want to share? What are you struggling with? Any motivation to share? What is your favorite yoga instructor?

I think I will try one of your Kassandra yoga videos! I like verbal cues though, so I don’t have to look at the TV as much, but it will be fun to try something new. I’ve been solely with Adriene for a couple of years now. Sometimes she gets pretty chatty.
Oh she is giving cues on which poses just not telling you how you are supposed to be in the pose. It’s assumed you know the pose. I like it after a long busy day. Hope you enjoy her classes if you give it a try.
Hello – I may not have commented before, but I have neen following along. Thank you so much for all the yoga links, some I never would have thought of, like bedtime or evening yoga? What a good idea! I also need more meditation. I will be visiting this post a lot to try the different links. Kassandra sounds like just what I am looking for. Thanks again, hope you are feeling better, glad yoga is working for you!
Welcome and thank you for reading along and taking time to comment.
I started doing evening yoga because I had no time in the morning and I have come to love it. Sometimes I like it more than morning practice.
Enjoy giving it a try.
This is great, Tobia! I just got some yoga blocks and a bolster, and I’m taking some beginner yoga classes through Peloton. The blocks and bolster have made a huge difference for me, so I hope you can get some blocks soon. I love the idea of bedtime yoga.
I’ll be ordering my blocks tomorrow so they arrive when I am back home from vacation. Bedtime yoga is helping me with my sleep.
Oh, I love deadbugs! Give me dead bugs over crunches! LOL
I am so thrilled about your consistency and that you’ve developed a love for yoga and tried so many classes. It’s really a great habit. I feel like yoga is like a combination of ,meditation and movement! So good in so many ways.
I really enjoy yoga. I could splendor yoga but I guess strength is something women of certain ages shouldn’t skip.
How can you like dead bugs. Argh. Weird thing though if they are included in a yoga practice I do them without complaining. Weird.
I haven’t done any yoga, but I’ve been going to the gym and pool regularly. I pretty much do not recognize myself. After signing up, I am going at least three times a week. To lift or to swim. Or to take a cycling class.
So that is January. In February I got sick a bunch of times and I wonder if that’s because I went to the pool when it was really cold out?… we had -21 the other day. Crazy cold.
I want to continue this exercise routine that I set out for myself- gym first in the morning, before work. It gives me a nice boost of energy.
That sounds amazing establishing some routine and loving it. I’ve gotten sick so many time the last year when I regularly went for exercise. Not sure if I am overdoing it and my body is rebelling.
Hope you get back to your routine soon.
