I haven’t posted about my walking during the past month but I was waling along side other cool bloggers of course. Thank you Elisabeth for hosting again. It’s been fun and has pushed me outside the door a few days I would have other wise just walked from my desk to the couch to the bed.
Here are my walks of October.

October 1 – just a walk to the store to get stuff | 6,399 steps
October 2 – just walking around on hospital grounds visiting and many more steps in Berlin getting from A to B. | 8,578 steps

Berlin Charite Campus area with red brick building

Charité Campus in Berlin Down Town visiting a family member who unexpectedly had to stay there for over a week.
All is good.

October 3 – not left the house as I was sick Sigh… | 1,530 steps
October 4 – a very short loop around the neighborhood but still sick. CBWC motivated me though to get outside | 4,624 steps
October 5 – 25 min walk along the river. very slowly and I turned around earlier than planned because I felt I might overdue it. | 5,246 steps
October 6 – 10 minute morning walk before starting work | 4,658 steps
October 7 – no walking outside but rode my bike to the post office and the church group | 4,009 steps & 2 x 2.5 km bike ride
October 8 –  36 minute lunchtime walk to the little pier by the beach | 7,807 steps
October 9 – 19 min lunchtime walk looping the neighborhood before heading into meetings all afternoon, later riding my bike to go to Zumba class | 10,437 steps & 2 x 2.2 km bike ride
October 10 – 47 min loop through the woods hoping to battle the migraine (no such luck) but I was able to get some more work done after that. It was nice seeing the leaves and smell the distinct fall smell | 6,263 steps
October 11 – evening walk through the dusky woods | 8,035 steps

the woods at dusk, foliage from tunnel lit by street lamp

In the woods while dusk settles. It was getting dark.

October 12 – walking to dinner and back with the husband and lots of A-B walking and train catching throughout the day | 10,175 steps
October 13 – walking from the hotel to the car dealer to pick up a new car | 7,379 steps

Picking up our new car – can you tell we are excited?

October 14 – quick evening walk around the neighborhood | 3,506 steps
October 15 – Sightseeing walk through Berlin from the husbands office to the doctors office | 13,641 steps

Berliner Fernsehturm und Berliner Dom und Maxim Gorki Theater

Five major sightseeing spots in one photo: Maxim Gorki theater, new part of German Historic Museum, Berliner TV Tower, Berlin Cathedral, Zeughaus aka German Historic Museum (left to right)

October 16 – no walking outside but riding my bike to Zumba | 8,575 steps + 2 x 2 km bike ride
October 17 – quick walk to the grocery store | 7,445 steps
October 18 – my Saturday long walk along the river as part of my endurance training | 16,904 steps
October 19 – chilled at home and realized at midnight I wasn’t outside. Let’s call it uncompleted | 1,965 steps
October 20 – afternoon walk to the ferry and stop at the grocery store on the way back home | 8,590 steps

The scenic route back from the grocery store.

October 21 – evening walk along the river  | 5,217 steps
October 22 – steps happened mainly inside but I took the bike to run appointments and go to the library | 4,179 steps + 2 x 6km bike ride
October 23 – no walk outside everything happened inside during chores, but I consciously stept outside at night, breathed the air and watched the stars | 5,956 steps
October 24 – a 20 min evening walk with the husband after a very long and tough week | 5,619 steps
October 25 – a conscious walk home from the ferry after riding my bike the river loop | 4,650 steps + 17km bike ride

Berlin Wall route guard tower Henningsdorf

My long walks and the bike ride have me cross the former Berlin Wall. This is one of a few guard towers that is kept for memorial reasons. It has a exhibition that is open April to October and run by volunteers.

October 26 – storm warnings and laziness, also didn’t wear my watch most of the day | 709 steps
October 27 – 15 min lunch walk with husband | 3.896 steps
October 28 – 19 min evening walk looping the neighborhood | 5.987 steps
October 29 – travel day to Hamburg with two conscious walks for the station to the clients office (24 min) and later from dinner to the train station (27 min), everything else happened somewhere along the way using public transport | 14.783 steps
October 30 – 17 min dusk walk before heading into the next zoom meeting | 6.037 steps
October 31 – none… it was Halloween, I had to hide| 2.559 steps

And this is all the walking I did for the Cool Bloggers Walking Club October. A total of 200.496 steps and 143.3 km. Yeah.
That is 1.240 step less than April however 3,2km more. Not sure how that works. Did my steps get longer through the training? Technical failure in measuring? Interesting.

Did you have a day you consciously decided to not walk? How did the walking month go for you? What kind of animals have you seen while walking? Did you walk the same path or did you venture from your normal ways?

I’m mostly just envious of the new car buying. We have been test driving for literal months, but have not pulled the trigger yet. I am jealous of all of you people who are able to make decisions!

Don’t be fool we also did do many test drives. I was sick of it and just wanted to get done with it. I don’t care much about a car as longs it drives is safe and doesn’t cost a leg. The husband has specific requirements though.

We had a couple of days where the rain was truly torrential, and the dog didn’t want to walk anyway, so I did not. Great walks and pics! I loved Germany.

Yeah, sometimes you just can’t force it. There would have been more days with no outside time if it wasn’t for the challenge. So I count it a win.

Congratulations on your new car purchase! Like you and Engie, I HATE that process, and am so glad that we have now had our new car for 2 months and I don’t have to think about anything other than how to pay for it. (Meaning, we went from no car payment to having one, bah!)

I’m glad you took it easy when you were sick, that you chose not to overdue it. And your photos are so beautiful, you had some really good walks.

Some of my walks were really fun. A lot of some happened in the dark around the neighborhood which gets a bit boring but I don’t need to be in the woods on my own in the dark and walking the street where the cars go by is not really nourishing for my soul. So the neighborhood it is.

Your walks look so nice! I love the photo of you and your husband looking so happy about the new car! I had a lovely October of walking – but I sure didn’t walk as many steps as you did!

It was a happy occasion having my husband walk with me on this and other occasions. I tried to walk a but more to challenge myself.
I am still dreaming of your walkway with the foliage and the fences. That was such a lovely view.

Way to go. I love the CBWC… unfortunately, I didn’t officially participate in October (because my parents were here and I couldn’t keep up with the blog), but I did get my steps in.

This is a great month of walking Tobia. Congratulations on your new car, I suppose you are relieved and happy to have that settled and done now. I really loved my time in Berlin and I think we will be back there next year so we will have to see if we can catch up.

That would be so fun to catch up in real life. Maybe plans will align and overlap.
It was good to get out and walking.
I hate car shopping so yeah I am happy. Until in two years we are back at it. The circle of leasing.

Congratulations on your new car! Enjoy.
Your walks look lovely! Last week I started wearing my watch again and looking at my steps each day was a wake up call to do more walking!

It is so easy to not move at all. Specially when working at home. Sometimes I have 1,500 steps by the end of the day.
I try to get outside at least ten minutes and do a walk. Better this than nothing.
