This post comes to you a little belated (but backdated) because I’ve been in bed with a fever and had no energy left to do anything besides sleep, get a drink of water and medicine and go to the bathroom. I’ve rarely felt so miserable in my life. But I am on the mend. Currently sitting outside in the sun with 19°C and finishing up this post and sharing a peek into how elevating happiness in March looked like.
How I incorporated my word ELEVATE in March
I elevated my soul by
- meditating 7 times.
- seeking out the newly found farmers market in the neighborhood. Two brothers with a farm come and offer their goods and it is soso fresh and yummy.
- receiving a card by Julie – thanks so so much.
- having a wonderful talk with my aunt outside in the sunshine.
- looking at the stars and admiring the sparkles.
- taking myself to lunch and enjoying the sunshine outside for the fist time this year.
- having a coffee outside in the sunshine during lunch.
- giving an amazing church service and all the effort beforehand was worth it. Great hard earned experience.
I elevated my creativity by
- creating some Easter cards.
- continuing my 100 day project but being very very liberal about it this time around.
I elevated my hobbies by
- checking off some countries for the read around the world challenge.
- setting up some reading challenges on storygraph (come join me)
I elevated my physical appearance and fitness by
- going on a 15km hike.
- doing yoga 7 times – this is sad. So many early morning meetings, migraines and such happened.
- lifting weights 11 times.
- closing my apple rings 2 times – disappointing.
- walking over 10.000 steps/day on five days, total of 135km and an average of 5,916 daily steps (84.5% of goal).
I elevated my health by
- doing lent and (mainly) staying of sugar (two exceptions).
- went to the dentist.
I elevated my relationships by
- attending my uncles 70th birthday party.
- hosting my godchild for an impromptu overnight stay.
- meeting my friend for a hike.
- having a 3.5 hour phone call with my best friend because we still haven’t managed to meet this year. Sigh.
- spending a night with friends.
- making plans to attend my sisters ordination in May.
- leaving 67 blog comments.
I elevated my home by
- spending some time getting my terrace garden ready and realizing my sorel survived winter and the mint is already peeking out. The rose and the rosemary also look healthy.
- ordering some maintenance equipment for Axel the robot vacuum.
- pruning my rose bush and the herbs.
I elevated my style by
- throwing in some big hoop earrings on an otherwise hoody kinda day. Felt very 90s. So I am very hip, right?
I elevated my behavior by
- attending a self-defense class. So worth it. Very much underestimated the emotional toll that would have.
I elevated others by
…sharing events and products on Instagram. Consciously liking more political, social-political posts on Instagram. Swamp the algorithm with good stuff.
Pfffff this month was hard. I wasn’t able to check off so so many things I planned to do. Some I will put back on the list following. March was hard you guys. Seems a reoccurring theme so far in 2025.

Typing this I feel April is half done with. It is weird typing this a few days after the month has started. But here we are better late than never. Missing this one week I feel like it will be another busy month trying to catch up instead of getting in front of all the piles that piling up. I see a theme this year.
How will you elevate your April? What elevated your soul lately? How elevated is your puls during exercise? Any elevated hobbies to report on?

I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well; that can really throw everything off kilter. But I’m impressed with how much thought and intention you’ve put into this.
Ah thank you Elisabeth. Yeah I can not remember the last time I was down with a fever. No fun but I am on the mend. This post took forever to write though…
Can I just comment on how much progress you made this month? OK, so you ‘only” did yoga 7 times, but you lifted weights 11 times and went on a long hike! Giving the church service would have taken a big chunk of time and energy. I have been upfront at mainly music for the last few weeks, plus G and I led one of our Sunday evening services; I am also almost finished reading through the bible, which feels good.
Thank you Melissa. Yes, there was a lot going on in March that took away from some of my energy. But even though yoga and walking vise March hit a dump I know I am on my way. It’s just hard being patient.
You are killing it yourself with all the things you are accomplishing. Kudos for being up front at mainly music AND doing a service. I am having newfound admiration for that. Is it the first time you read through the Bible? I feel it’s probably not.
I forgot to say I’ve sent you a friend request on story graph: @mel_st
Yeahhh. I’ve accepted.
If it helps, April is a longer month so you still have about 4 weeks to get everything done. It’s hard to get things done when you’re not feeling good, so don’t beat yourself up too much. You’ve got this!
That is true. I do have a bit more time this month. You can definitely not chip away at hard goals when not feeling well. So thanks for that perspective.
