This post idea is bluntly copied by me from Stephanie’s weekly posts. I always liked the format (since week #35!) and wanted to give it a try. Don’t worry you’ll not get a weekly post like this. I am way too lazy and also I have not enough things happening in my life to fill that week in and week out. But we are in the midst of NabLoPo and I have a bigger variety of post on my blog so I can sneak in yet another recap kinda thing.
The high of my week: the first (and last) Date Day with the husband in 2025. We went to a nearby town and enjoyed being together, outside in nature and just away from the home and all the looming todos. I think I am going to write a little recap so be patient.

Me, happy in the castle gardens.
The low of my week: a four (going on five?) day stretch of migraines. I had to cancel Zumba. And on Tuesday afternoon when I was coming back from my hospital client I felt like I was going to puke in the bus. I made it home somehow and fell right into bed. That was a tough day. Three different kinds of medicine did not do the trick that day. Definitely a low.

This is me with a mean migraine and 30 minutes before it got even worth. Don’t let looks fool ya.
The book I am reading: I finished The Last of The Moon Girls by Barbara Davis which was a nice read. I am also reading a book about an arctic explorer (no translation to English). It’s a bit dragging but then I haven’t had the headspace to really dive in. I also started by Stories by a Stranger Hunter Prosper.
The best workout of the week: this week only contained longer walks and yin yoga as my body was shutting down. But I did a 50 min yin session that was good. And also the shorter ones I did in the morning to calm my nervous system helped me get into the day. Its hard stepping down from my exercise routine and I feel like I am slacking but my personal trainer (read ChatGPT) tells me its the right thing to do (and maybe I need that permission to do something I already feel is the better choice).
The best money I spent: I want to say booking the flights to the Arctic but I still haven’t done it. So instead it would have to be… dinner during our day trip. It might have been one of the best versions of that dish I ever had.
My plans for the weekend: I have glorious plans. I will be going to my parent’s country home here just in a few minutes. And I will be on a 2.5 half yoga-reading retreat with myself. Ever since Stephany talked about her reading retreat I felt like I needed to do this. The last weeks have been tough. I have lost of sleep issues, migraine, stress and some early perimenopause symptoms that all leave me high on adrenalin and cortisol and I need a mental and physical cleansing. I had hoped to leave the laptop behind but since I haven’t prepared posts for the weekend I can’t. Its ok. I have some blog reading to do as well so it fits the narrative. But I might have skipped it otherwise to be honest. Anyway I am beyond excited to be heading out. I need to do a little bit of work when I get there but yeah.
Tell me a high or low of week? What are your weekend plans? Have you ever done a reading retreat? or a spa weekend?

Tobia, I absolutely love the picture of you in the castle gardens! Pure joy! I’m so sorry that you had to deal with a bad migraine. I truly wish someone could figure out migraines and make them stop. I hope you have a lovely reading/yoga retreat!
I know so much research on so many things but not much on migraines. And they are in the top 3 of chronic diseases world wide.
