I tiny little rant hitting your inboxes today and I am apologizing (only a little) but I need to get this on my chest. There are three little annoyances that are triggering me these days. I figured I need you to suffer with me. Ha
Dying plants I am paying for
One minor annoyance that becomes a bigger one: our little front yard from our apartment building is not getting watered. Like all through summer I have not seen one person watering it or the soil being wet. At all. We are paying garden fees and I promise this entire year there is not once any water near those sad plants. They are dying left and right and get mowed down because the few that are still standing look like weeds. Every other building in the street has lush bushes and it is a constant reminder how it should look like. And there is even a water connection right in the freaking patch. But it is locked because someone could steal water. So I can not even take pity on the plants and do the job someone is paid to do and doesn’t di. I guess I should write to the landlord. But then we are heading into fall and it’s not really necessary anymore. Annoying.
The tiny sounds of robotic mowers
have you ever sat in the early morning ours or under a star scattered sky and then year a weird little sound that drives you nots. No? Well, come visit me. Those robotic lawn mowers give little beeping sounds day and night. No matter if they run or not. Why the hell do the connection ping that obviously happens need to be accompanied with a sound. And then the robot mower from my neighbors across (that I find over all very annoying for various reasons) has a headlight too. It drives around at night (which is forbidden in Germany due to nighttime wildlife but they don’t give a sh*t) and keeps blinding me when lying in bed. Annoying.
Drones overhead
Staying with robots. I have drones flying over head. I had this a few years back that one check out our neighborhood. It was loud and me and a neighbor were very irritated. Then my favorite neighbors *irony off* from a cross the streets bought one and flew it for a few days extensively. So annoying that I started googling laws and restrictions but then they suddenly stopped. Now this summer we had a few drone sightings again. One hovered quite a few minutes over our terrace and I am pretty sure they wanted to see what I was up too. I stared it down so whoever was watching knew I saw it. I was about to take some images and thought about reporting but then it left and was never seen again. I find it so scary how this technology in the hand of stupid people keeps being used. Annoying.

Tobia, these are definitely VERY annoying things. The plants not being watered is terrible, especially since you have to pay for the service. I think you should let the landlord know even if the season is about over. Robotic mowers sound terrible, especially at night. I’ve never seen one, luckily. The drone hovering over your terrace is probably the most annoying one in my opinion. At least they are noisy so you know when they’re around. It would be funny if you took a video of it snooping on you.
The drones are a nuisance for sure specially since I am not sure I always hear them. If they are high enough I might not and they may have zoom lenses so who knows. And would I hear it if I am inside and they are looking into the windows? Scary.
The water thing is truly sad. I think I have a list of things I need to address. I am always not sure if it is better to collect smaller things and send it in a batch or address everything on its own.
I had a drone fly over my house when I was sunbathing in the backyard and it made me feel weird. I assumed it was from a real estate agent, as they now take an overhead photo for the listing, but it could have been a creepy neighbor, or non-neighbor scoping the place out! I don’t like it either. They are banned in all National Parks and many wilderness areas, but I still see people using them and it annoys the $hit out of me.

Of course you could create cool photos and I am debating having a drone back and forth but where would I have it fly if I am all annoyed by it?
They are banned in Germany over private property and obviously around security buildings and such. I think for now only waterways are allowed? But I am not 100 percent sure.
Ugh! The lack of watering would drive me bonkers! Especially if you are paying a garden fee. Not cool.
I walked outside a week or so ago and saw a drone hovering above my house. Why? And who? Very unsettling!
The drone thing is definitely unsettling but if I am honest the watering thing also bothers me more.
I HATE the whine of a drone. HATE IT. If it were a regular occurrence at my house, I’d take up slingshot and try to shoot them out of the air. #violenceistheonlyanswer
HAHAHAHAH I feel you. The noise is annoying. On the other hand image there was no noise and you wouldn’t even now someone is watching. Scary.
Definitely legit annoyances. I think it’s unacceptable that you’re paying for a gardener that doesn’t come by (I’d definitely bring this up with the landlord!) and drones are so annoying. I work with drones at my work and we have very strict requirements when and where we are allowed to fly them. I think the commercial drones that everyday people use don’t have these restrictions (but they should!).
I think in Germany there are some restrictions around drones for private/leisure use but I am not totally sure. Even though they annoy me I would also like to fly them and look at the world from above. It is a nice tool. But then when and where would I be able to have it fly?

All of these annoyances are totally valid! I concur. The drones would be SOOO annoying. I saw a Reel of a dog jumping up and grabbing a drone out of the air with his teeth and then destroying it. That’s the only good solution, I think! (Or Engie’s answer also works).
I know. The ones I encountered are higher up so. more like 10-20 meters higher so no chance of grabbing it. I would if I could should they ring my door bell to get it back and then I have the police get it to them.
Gosh all those three are annoying!!!!
1. A garbage truck that arrives at 4:30am every Wednesday.
2. We need a new roof per our home insurance policy. The roof is only 12 years old since they last over 25 years.
3. Situation in the USA… just everything, gas prices etc -annoying!
4. My kids not wanting to go swimming today- annoying.
yeah the early garbage trucks can be so annoying. I feel you.

I agree, all of these would be annoying.
A few from me:
1. New residents in our apartment block dumping massive furniture boxes in the bin room. Everyone else cuts them up so they can fit in the recycling bin.
2. People not using head phones on the train. This was a Sunday annoyance so is fresh for me
Oh I can get behind your annoyances. So very annoying. Luckily in my new apartment the paper recycling doesn’t fill up. Not sure if no one is recycling or if they are driven to the recycling yard. But I won’t complain.
The phone thing seems to be a universal issue. And a generational one? I dont get why you would want people to hear your conversations and such.
The watering issue is the worst for me, because a living thing is dying. I would definitely talk to the landlord about it, because now they will have to pay for new plants, and should avoid that if possible. I think it’s best to make a list of things that need addressing vs a bunch of emails, much easier for them to deal with.
I have never heard of a robot mower, I live in a townhome complex and there is no grass outside for a block or so, so even if there were I wouldn’t hear it. It would annoy the crap out of me though!
I really dislike drones unless they are for a specific purpose that is legit and above board. I have a friend who uses them for their travel business, to take beautiful pictures from above. And a neighbor who uses one for real estate. Those seem valid to me, but just a person buzzing around looking in your yard or windows? That’s BS.
I’m annoyed by my company where I work, for laying people off who have been there for ages and do great work, just to hire more sales people. Or maybe there’s more, like our CEO micromanages and this employee let it be known that he didn’t like that, I don’t know. Anyway, I don’t talk about work on my blog, but it’s safe here, so I will complain away! Also, our new dishwasher had blockages and errors within 1 day of us getting it, which was definitely annoying, but thankfully that is all (finally, hopefully) resolved.
Drones can be helpful but even for travel purposes… I as private person don’t know if it is for travel and just crossing overhead to get from A to B. I am always suspicious.
As for the plants… I am pretty sure no new plants are going to be planted. I tried putting some in but with no water… zero chance.
Complain away about your work on my blog. It sounds bad. And I am sorry you ave this going on. It can suck out all the energy and motivation.
