A few weeks back Stephany used this format of where do you keep that and while reading it was so much fun that I immediately wanted to write my own post. Which I mostly did but then had to add in some photos. And since I try to do all the photos on my blog myself it took awhile. Not because I don’t have the camera ready at all times… no no… I needed to clean up the areas (or push things out of the way) to add in some photos here. But applaud me as I have finally managed to do so.

Kleenex

During Covid we started having Kleenex Boxes out in the open in case we needed to grab something and couldn’t disinfect. Ever since we are sticking to the habit. We have one box in each bathroom and I also have one on my desk. The husband has a standing order on Amazon for delivery. We are weird… I know.

Medicine

Medicine is kept in the cupboard in our guest bathroom. We have two shelves. Roughly organized into an assortment of creams, salves and dressing material and one for pain and cold medicine. I do think we have a bit too much medicine in storage. We also regularly go through and discard the expired ones. I am always annoyed though. Medicine can be so expensive…

Bandaids

Bandaids are obviously on the shelf for dressing materials. There was a time when we needed a bandaid and had none. We ended up going for the car first aid kit. Ever since I keep buying them because I fear we run out. It’s gotten a bit better but we do have enough.

Heating Pad

Ha… our heating packs are all in the freezer. We don’t use them for heating and we don’t have a microwave. Anything else wouldn’t make sense. However I do own two hot water bottles and the husband has one too. And additionally I have a cherry pit pillow. These are stored in the linen closet in the bedroom.

Nail Polisher

Confession. I own a lot of nail polisher. I am trying to get rid of some of them but it’s hard. I store them in a plastic container from IKEA and that one sits in the shelve in the main bathroom cupboard. I am pondering moving it to the guest bathroom as we are a little tight on space and there things would be more useful in the main bathroom. But for now that is where it is.

Winter hats/gloves/Accessoires

Each of us has a whole drawer in the wardrobe closet for scarfs, pashminas, hats and gloves. They are full. And additionally I have another storage box in my closet for skiing clothes (hats, gloves) and extra think woolen scarfs my mom made. I should probably sort though my pashminas and make some place for moms scarves. This way I would use them more.

Scissors

I am very proud of my scissor cabinet. I do own quite a few scissors but they all have a different purpose – fabric, paper, haberdashery, kids, hair, nail, etc. I guess growing up in crafty home makes me appreciate my tools.

scissor collection hanging on door

The husband has two more (paper) scissors in his desk and we have one kitchen scissor in the kitchen drawer.

Tweezers

I have two. The husbands has one I think. I almost want to lie about where I keep them. One is in my travel bag. One is supposed to be in the bathroom bin. But often enough can be found somewhere in my office. Don’t ask…

Slow Cooker/Air Fryer

I don’t own neither.

Dirty Towels

Nowhere. They go right into the washer and dryer and the clean ones go either directly back in the bathroom of if I need a color switch I put the in the linen closet in the bedroom.

Tape Measure

This household has multiple tape measures. For sewing purposes I have a couple ones in my craft room. Same cabinet as the scissors. I think it is only two or three now. I gave one to the husband and I assume it’s in his desk somewhere. And then we have another measuring tape (longer) in the tool box in our storeroom.

Gift Bags/Tissue paper/Wrapping Paper

This category is a mess as it is stored in four places. Sigh.

blend in wrapping paper storage

This is the storage solution in its original place. Look at the image… I have come a long way since 2017.

The wrapping paper used to be in a very organized hanging behind the door. But since moving we don’t have a place so it is rolled up and standing in my paper trash can (which I can obviously not use) next to my desk. The tissue paper is in a drawer in one of the cabinets. I have an additional cabinet for ribbons – which I originally bought for sewing but will use for gift wrapping these days. And the gift bags are in the storage room. Do I need a better system? Probably. Could I downsize. Also a valid question.

Library books

I rarely have physical library books so there is no designated pace. But when I do have some they are on top of the low board next to my reading chair.

Book Marks

Scattered around on the book shelves. I only have two or three I think.

Extra Pens

What do you mean with extra pens? No pen is extra but needed. That said… I have a drawer. A full one. My pens are sorting in category: felt tip, gel, pencils, colored pencils, markers… They are stored in boxes. In two layers.

Suitcases

Suitcases sit on the top of our bedroom cupboards. The new ones are neatly wrapped in a canvas bag. The three old suitcases – which I need to sell – or also stored there.

Are you surprised by the amount of my scissors? Do you store something totally different? I there something you found surprising? Any tips on how to organize wrapping material?

Hahaha – I agree there is no such thing as an extra pen.

Love seeing how and where other people store these necessities!

Glad I am not alone with my pen addiction. Collection?
I do think it’s interesting too.

This is such a fun set of posts and I love how more and more people are doing them! I have a follow-up post coming out this week…and then a third one after that!
I cannot have too many pairs of scissors or pens in my house. I want them EVERYWHERE.

Oh you are on a roll with these posts then. But I agree they are so so fun. Give me all the randomness of peoples lives.
And I agree pens and scissors are life essentials.

I agree with you about pens, Tobia! I have SO many pens – and I need all of them!
I love your scissor storage hooks. That’s a great idea. I also have SO many scissors!
And I don’t think a standing order for Kleenex is strange at all!
I think I would be very comfortable in your house!

I try not to collect the promotional pens and limit these to 1-3 but all the others are hand selected.

I think I need to make a craft lab tour one of these days to share all my supplies and their storage.

There are pens everywhere in our house. EVERYWHERE. They’re kind of like books that way.

That’s a good comparison. Ha. I honestly can’t understand people who only have a few pens

That scissor cabinet gives me heart eyes. AMAZING!! I feel like we are on a similar organizational wavelength. I love it!

I also want to start using haberdashery more often in my day-to-day life. What a fun word!

Actually my husband is the better organizing wizard but it rubs off. And I love my craft stuff to look pretty.
Haberdashery is a great word. I agree.

Woah, you rival Elisabeth with this scissor collection :)

My wrapping paper is also stored in a trash can (in the closet) but I really like that wall hanging. Did you make it or did you buy that somewhere?

I did make it. The tutorial is linked. But if you have space to hang it I would send it too. I don’t have space anymore and it’s a shame it’s just all crumbling up in my trash can.

I am not surprised about the scissors. The collective scissor number in our household is probably higher but less organized. They are like pens – they disappear and then reappear in weird places.

Oh there are many more scissors. I just saw two at the husbands. Apparently I stored my hair scissors in the bathroom somewhere. And then in the kitchen…
I do love my little tool hanging on that door. Make it’s so easy to access.

WOW! Very interesting ways to store various things. Sometimes all it takes is a good idea, and for little money you can make useful items that will make our lives easier.
