It is our monthly coffee date and today you are invited to my patio. It is the first hot weekend of the year with 30°C (86° F) degrees and it is nice sitting outside. Soon we will move inside but the first weekend is always special. We sit in the shade on my comfy and lounge patio furniture and listen to the birds. We hear the boats go by on the river in the distance. For now we are sipping a hot coffee but we might plop in a scoop of ice cream later on.

If you and I had coffee…
…I admit that I am a bit frustrated with my vacation. I cleaned my room for two days – and am not as done as would like. I also cleaned the windows for two days. Why do chores always take so much longer than you anticipate. I mean I didn’t wake up and start doing them. I first sat for hours reading my blogs and books and drinking coffee. And I managed to sleep more. Multiple days 7 hours. For that alone it was worth having a home vacation. But still… it feels like a little bit of wasting a vacation. Sigh. I really miss traveling and exploring. I guess we traveled to the Caribbean by watching ouse hunting in the Caribbean. Does that count.

If you and I had coffee…
…I share exciting news. While complaining about my home vacation and feeling sad I booked a two day trip to Wroclaw later in July. Guess who I am meeting there. Yes, Kyria. I am very excited. For one I get to meet one of the cool Bloggers. Secondly I get to explore some (almost) new place. I am just so happy I have the chance to do so. We were planning to meet up in Riga but it would have been a tight squeeze and it didn’t really work out in the end. I am happy to be having a second opportunity.

If you and I had coffee…
…I tell you that I have managed to be at my sister’s ordination. It was almost not possible because the husband tested with Covid the Sunday prior. I had felt weird the day before too. We immediately separated and I slept a whole week on the guest bed. It sucked. And I didn’t feel great and at times I wondered why we do this but I never tested positive and on Saturday I was well enough to travel. It was a great weekend with my sisters. We spend a lot of time together and I even had the chance to have the whole Monday morning with my sister alone. It’s been ages since we had that opportunity. I love my niece and nephew and BIL but it’s also nice to have a sister 1:1. The ordination celebration was really great. It was the first time I really saw my sister in a talar. The first time I hear a sermon of hers. I was a proud sister. It was a very good sermon. My sister is a great speaker and for the 17 minutes everything was quiet and people listened while the kids created some tape art at the church walls. The festivities afterwards with speeches was also moving and I cried more than I thought I would. I am so happy I managed to attend. The husband however, was not able and stayed home. Boohh.

If you and I had coffee…
…I asked you if you remember last coffee date where I shared that I was asked to run for church council. well, after weeks of consideration and consulting with multiple people I decided to run for the church council. It’s rather likely to be elected since it will be tough to find enough people to run but nothing is fixed yet. There will never really be the best time. There will always be things going on. And one can never really plan the future. So it all comes down to priorities. And I have decided to take the plunge and see what it means. Am I in over my head. Could be. Is it a step outside my comfort zone? Definitely. Am I excited? Yes.

If you and I had coffee…
…I declare the summer of 2025 as the party summer. When we had set the date for our White Summer Party we were the only ones throwing a huge thing this summer. By now the upcoming weeks look like that:
– July 5th – Summer BBQ at a friends house
– July 12th – White Summer Party at our house
– July 19th – 50th birthday party at friends house
– August 2nd – Summer party at friends house
– August 30th – Birthday party of my godfather and his wife at the rowing club
I guess this almost calls for some summer outfit shopping. As for the White Party I have started sewing my maxi skirt yesterday. And I have a mother white dress I could wear to some of the other parties. But maybe I want another cool outfit. I am excited even though we are probably very exhausted after all this partying this summer.

If you and I had coffee…
…I excitedly tell you about finishing up my second 101 things in 1000 days bucket list last month. I gave myself a bonus week to finish the hardest things on the list. Writing my will, living will and health care proxy. It was no fun but so important. I gave myself a whole weekend. The husband had to work and get up at 6am and I just got up as well and sat down to do it. I had to take breaks and think through things and let things marinate. I also had some cries because it is just hard to think about your own end. But I am very proud of myself to have sucked it up and done it. Now a fortnight later I already know a thing or two I want to change but it’s not as intimidated anymore since I have done the base work.
Anyways, I finished up my list and have so much fun in writing my third list. I love the long term goal setting. It keeps me accountable for things that don’t happen overnight, things that need longer planning, things I can’t fully rely on myself to happen but also things that need constant work. It is a great indicator for my long term priorities. If you want to join me please do. Melissa has her list running already.

If you and I had coffee…
…I also mention that – while being a bit lax last week during vacation – I am strong into my excising game. Just the other day I realized within the last 18 months I have gone from no exercise at all to a 6 week exercising schedule. And even if I skip a day I get right back and it’s no issue. Do I always like it? No. Do I suck it up and do it. Yes. And I am seeing results. Very slowly. I could probably see more if I had my diet under control. I don’t. I love cake, chocolate and ice cream. So I just have to acknowledge that it will take more time. But I moving in the right direction. I have worn more clothes from my wardrobe again. Yesterday I tried on a skirt I sewed in 2015 and it fits again. Also some shirts are looking much better these days. And the bras are not as hurtful anymore. But best of all is the mobility. When I sat on the floor yesterday for hours cutting a sewing pattern I had no issue. I remember times where I had to get up constantly because my knees hurt or my legs would fall asleep. It’s so cool. Also my skin is so much firmer. How did I manage to let my body “decay” for so long? Because contrary to many, I love sports. Maybe not the cardio part but even that is ok once I get going.

We are wrapping things up. The ice cream is melted in our glasses, the last sip is just not good and we leave it be. We enjoy the sounds of nature for a little bit before you get up and headed home.

Will you attend any summer party this summer? Or maybe host one? What are the temperatures like in your neck of the woods? Will you join me in my next 101 things in 1000 days bucket list? What is the last person you met in real life after getting to know each other online? Who would you love to meet in real life?

What a lovely coffee date, Tobia! At this point in my life, I’d say getting enough sleep was definitely worth having an at-home vacation! It sounds wonderful. How fun that you get to meet up with Kyria! I’m a fan of armchair traveling, so yes, watching House Hunters in the Caribbean counts in my book. I’m looking forward to reading about your White Party, and I hope you’ll take lots of pictures!

Armchair traveling. That is a new term for me. Love it.
Getting some sleep was definitely helpful.
I am very excited to meet Kyria. And do some traveling.
The white party will be fun. I am just in the midst of sewing my outfit.

Well, first of all- how exciting that you’re going to meet Kyria! I’m sure she’s looking forward to it too.
I know what you mean about the staycation. I like the part where you slept more, got lots of reading done, and it also feels good to get some house projects done. But then at the end of the week it feels like you didn’t do anything! But- you did relax, and you’ll have other opportunities to travel.
Nice job keeping yourself healthy and avoiding Covid. I’m sure it was not fun, but you got to go to your sister’s ordination! It sounds like it was an amazing experience,- you would have been so sad to miss that.
My husband and I also recently did our wills- yes, it’s not fun! But, it feels great to get it done.

Wow, you have a lot of parties! I am so glad you could fit me into the middle! I love that you are exercising regularly and are fitting into old clothes and best of all, feeling good! I sometimes struggle to get out and do it but once I do, I feel so much better and I never regret it!

It was 35 here the other day and I was sweaty! I do have AC but I am not really a fan, so I just opened up the windows and read my book on the couch and it was lovely!

ACs are not a big thing in Europe as you probably realized. However they are becoming more of a things with temperatures getting hotter. I bet sitting in a breeze reading has been great.
Yes lots and lots of parties and stuff going on. It’s very unusual though.
