When I decided to document a snapshot of my day I had not anticipated it to be such a weird scattered day. But maybe that is exactly what makes it interesting to document such a day.
I am typing up this post at 10 pm.
Time I woke up: 7:30 am
First thing I did upon waking: after just laying in bed a bit, I went to the bathroom, on the way back got my phone (which is never in the bedroom) and heading back to bed. Checking blog comments and replying. And then unfortunately doom scrolling instead of reading which I had wanted to do.
Today’s weather: At 9 am: sunny, lightly blue skies, temperature 10°C (50°F). Forecast no rain. up to 16°C (60°F), winds, sundown at 4.16pm
First thing to drink: a glass of water
Meds I took today: Vitamin C complex, magnesium
Last thing I read (not on the Internet): I really don’t know. It will be my book in a few minutes. Does that count even though it didn’t happen yet?
Edit: I remember now, an invoice I found in the mail box.
Last thing I read (on the Internet): Instagram posts
Last text I sent: to the husband complaining about the failed audio recording and how unprofessional it feels.
Last text I received: from the husband. Starting with Oh no. Shit…. trying to be supportive of my failure.
Last website I visited: this blog. I might be booking a train to a Christmas party when I am done. A to-do I haven’t crossed off. But maybe I just do it tomorrow.
Last show I watched: Rosewood, about a pathologist and a cop solving cases. Unfortunately a double episode with a cliff hanger.
Last podcast I listened to: Best Laid Plans by Shu, eps. 276
Last thing I said: I am sorry you are not feeling well. To the husband.
Last thing I ate: Potatoes and Quark with linseed oil and tomato salad – my staple after Zumba on Thursdays
Last money spent: I was approved for a grant today which I spent in less than 30 minutes on an advanced training about crisis communication starting Monday.
What I was doing an hour ago: eating and watching Rosewood and welcoming the husband home.
What I will be doing an hour from now: be in bed and read
Current whereabouts of the other members of the household: husband = kitchen
One thing I crossed off my to-do list today: an interview with a CEO about port development in different cities around the world.
An out-of-the-ordinary thing that happened today: a failed recording of above mentioned interview which is really bothering me to no extend and messed up the entire rest of the day because I had to spend time recoding the whole thing by hand after the call in order to not forget anything. It’s a tiny disaster I do not have the audiophile. Sigh.
One thing that elevated me today: My Zumba class. It was such a joy, I really gave it my all and went all in. I was seating and I can already feel the sore muscles of tomorrow.
One thing I am grateful today: a pretty good nights sleep,
Unfortunately my day was so busy that I forgot to snap any other photos besides the one when I checked the weather. I had planned to document a bit more. But here I am… ready to head to bed.
What are you grateful for today? What didn’t work out as planned? The last thing you ate? Anything that elevated you today?

Your weather sounds beautiful! 50-60 and sunny, I would love that. Sorry about the failed recording- it sounds like that really derailed the day. But everything else sounds good. That zumba class sounds great- I love that feeling after a good workout. Hopefully you will sleep well!
To answer some of your questions… the last thing I ate was dinner, which was a tofu scramble with broccoli. I’m grateful for so many things- like yoga videos to help my sore back. I will also be reading in bed in a couple hours!
Yes, the failed recording did derail my day. Mainly my mood since I felt like such an idiot.
The weather was nice unfortunately I didn’t make it outside until dark.
What are you currently reading?
I thought a snapshot day would be lots of photography, but little text snippets is a fun way to document your day too. This will be the last thing I read today, cheeers.
Congratulations on the grant too. Hope the class is fun and/or helpful.
Haha yeah that would have been nice to have more photos and I was planning on doing it but than… oh well.
I am excited for the class even though I added such a junk to the to-do list. But I just couldn’t pass the opportunity.
Thanks for reading.
What a fun idea! Sorry about your recording.
Thanks. Yeah the recording failur sucked.
Ah bummer, I am sorry about the failed recording. What a headache. I hope you got it all figured out.
I am glad you got to eat your favorite meal (yeah, potatoes with quark!) and I am so happy you got a good night’s rest! That always helps! Plus exercise :) (I have never tried zumba!)
I always thought Zumba is not my thing and a bit cheesy. But I knew I needed to push myself when it comes to cardio and it was the closest and cheapest course available. On Thursday it was so fun. It’s just moving, singing and at a point i realized I was all smiles.
Yeah the recording sucked big time. So mad at myself. Sigh.
I always enjoy “by the hour” posts or day snippets. I guess as many people I’m nosy about other people’s lives.
I’m typing this in the morning on Saturday so I’ll use Friday as an example.
What didn’t work out? I wanted to exercise and instead I spent time writing. Not bad I guess but still.
What I’m grateful for is my husband being home all week. He took kids to activities so I have some quality time alone after work. Next week he is going away again for work. Oh well such is life.
Writing is a good substitute for exercise but then at some point exercise is a thing that needs to be done.
Glad you had some alone time and that the husband was arroz d this week.
Happy weekend to you.
Ugh, the failed audio recording is a bummer, especially when you’re counting on it to help you remember the interview. I’m glad you were able to do it by hand, but what a nuisance!
Yeah that really made me mad at myself. Let’s hope I was able to write everything down since I haven’t had time to create the necessary content yet.
Congrats on getting approved for a grant! It was fun to look at your day, and I’m sorry about the recording, too. Today I’m grateful that we got a little rain, because it has been so dry. It really should be snow, but we’re having such a warm November this year. The last thing I ate was breakfast: A sausage patty, a fried egg, 1/2 piece of toast, and coffee. Yummy!
It’s been rather warm for November here too. I remember Octobers with snow. And I am pretty sure when I was in Idaho there was lots of snow in November. And Montana isn’t far off.
The recoding sucked but what can I do. Let’s hope it s not happening again.
Very grateful for the grant.
