While most of my dear readers are celebrating thanks giving today it is another – rather gray rainy – work day here in Germany. No holiday. No festivities. However, still a wonderful day to be thankful for. So I got myself some hot ginger tea and sat down to jot down my list. Here it is in no specific order…
Things I am thankful for in general
- My husband. He is pretty awesome.
- My family.
- My friends.
- Books. Always and for ever.
- Having money in the bank.
- Food on the table.
- My own room.
- Living in a safe country.
- Cake and Cookies.
- Snow days.
- A steaming pot of good coffee.
- A steaming pot of tea from self grown and gathered herbs.
- My creativity.
Things I am thankful for in 2023
- That I – against all odds – like the new apartment.
- Not catching Covid when the husband had it.
- The river cruise job in France and I got to spend a week with my oldest friend.
- So many fun new things in my wardrobe.
- A very relaxing vacation in Mallorca.
- That as of now I have not gained weight this year. Fingers crossed I make it through the holidays.
- For getting my boating license and doing it with dad.
- This NaBloPoMo Community. I am behind on reading post (228 to be precise…) but I will get there.
I am sure I have missed number of things I am thankful for. But for this snapshot in time it is the things I am thankful for in 2023.
Happy Thanksgiving. Now, what are you thankful for?

Love this list and even though, like you, today is NOT Thanksgiving where I live, it’s a nice reminder that it’s important and joyful to count our blessings.
I can only agree. Counting our blessings is a good thing to do and remind ourselves of.
Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful that my husband and I didn’t get covid and that my daughter’s case was mild! Woo!
Very good things to be thankful for. Happy thanksgiving to you.
This is a lovely list, Tobia. Even though there is no “equivalent” holiday for Thanksgiving in Germany, it’s always a good time to reflect on the things we’re thankful for. I love that you split the list in “general things” and things that you are particularly thankful for in 2023. Sometimes we forget to recognize the things that stood out during the year.
Thank you San.
Yes it’s a special blessing to have certain things be thankful for that just happened this year.
I’m SO GLAD you linked to your work trip in France! I was on vacation in Alaska when you posted it, and not reading blog posts, and I missed it. I had really been looking forward to reading about it, and I thought maybe you had decided not to post. Your pictures were stunning, and I really enjoyed reading about that part of France. I’ve been to the South, but further east near Nice, so it was great to see these pictures and read all about it.
I’m also glad that you like your new apartment. I know that was very stressful and you didn’t want to have to move, so I’m glad that it doesn’t suck.
I also like that you sorted between general thankfulness and 2023 thankfulness. Lovely post.
Thank you. That part of France is really great and such great views.
I am also happy the new apartment turned out better than I expected.
What a lovely list of things to be thankful for! I’m glad you’re liking your apartment more.
I am so glad too. I really feared differently.
That is a great list Tobia and I agree with quite a few on the general one. This year I am most grateful for my families health.
Health is such a major thing we take for granted until it’s not there anymore.
