Today I have a real treasure. A buried post from ten years ago. I am talking about personal clothing style. Reading through this post I feel it just as I felt it ten years ago when writing. The questions I ask myself are still the same. I am still very much drawn to the styles I listed there but have yet not worn.
With my word elevate the styles I am admiring are grabbing my fascination again and I wish I would be able to pull of that sophisticated style. I doubt I ever will. But it is very interesting to see that I have not changed in the past ten years. So I guess I do have a style I dream about.
As for the every day outfits. Well, I can say not much has changed here either. Am I boring? Or have I found my way. My personal style? I still love me some color. And I will always match as many accessories I can. One thing did change though. The color palette. Back ten years ago though the color blue was missing in my closet. I think I had a few pieces. The color purple and brown have dominated my wardrobe. I am not sad to have gotten rid of purple. It never really was my color and I think it was a phase – a longer one. The red color palette has been in my closet since I can remember. My shift towards more muted reds, corals is an evolution to a more adult version maybe. I am missing the many coral shades the stores had ten years ago. I used to have a patterned coral pant. Man that was a great pant and I wish I had something like that.
Overall I have slightly shifted a bit more towards blacks and blues and am not as brightly and colorful every days as I may have been in 2015. However I still have some colorful clothes in my closet. Remember my last shopping haul for the river cruise?
Since writing this post I have added another Pinterest board to my collection that is a bit broader than the original I linked in the post from 2025. Lately I have been looking for styles to wear my new leather jacket and my fixation on owning a sequin pencil skirt.
Anyway hop back in time to see my outfits from 2015. Enjoy the read.
Do your know what your personal style is? Do you have certain colors you are always drawn to – not counting black, white grey? Is there a piece of clothing that defines you?

I think your style is exquisite, Tobia! You always look so classy in the photos I’ve seen of you. I love your Pinterest board. I have never had a great sense of style, even when I was young and cute! I’ve always gone for comfortable and baggy clothes, and I wear them until they’re threadbare. I don’t have anything that looks dressy right now. I got rid of the few dresses I had because they didn’t fit anymore. Honestly, I’m a bit embarrassed about my current wardrobe.
You are too kind. I am not sure I would call my style exquisite but it is nice to hear.
Also I would agree that I have no great sense of style. I always feel I am nowhere near trends.
I loved baggy clothes when I was young and athletic. Gaining weights it’s not so flattering for me so I changed it. But i would be all over baggy jeans and belly free tight tops if I could still rock it. Ha.
I think you shouldn’t be embarrassed about your wardrobe. If you are feeling comfortable it’s what you need.
Ditto to the above. In the photos you’ve posted, you always look stylish and, I noticed, usually colourful. I’m a jeans and T-shirt girl, sub in a nice top to be dressier and then for more dressy I always go with a dress. I am not looking forward to finding something to wear to my son’s wedding.
Ahhh thank you so much. I don’t feel I am very dressy and stylish. I am also a jeans and T-shirt girl but have gradually moved towards pants as they are more comfortable right now. What kind of dressier tops do you wear? I find it so hard to find something matching a jeans.
I am sure you’ll find something wonderful for your sons wedding.
I agree with M and M in that you look great, I love the colors and I am a plain Jane, mostly wearing black or solid colors and I wear them until they die. Also, I am traveling with just two pairs of shoes and neither are dressy. Do you have thrift stores in Germany? When I was in France, they didn’t really have thrift stores. They have “vintage” stores, but that is expensive used clothing, but they don’t really have an inexpensive used clothing store, which we have a ton of in the US.
We do have thrift stores here. Not sure they are as affordable as in the US/Canada though. There are also the high fashion vintage clothing stores.
I’ve never really found a good one I. Frequent but I try to visit them more often.
If I would travel I would probably also go with versatile and practical rather than fancy.
