We are in the last stretches of these posts. But I feel like today’s questions are especially hard. I read through them and answered one and then needed a break. I am not really sure how I came up with the idea of answering all 50 of these question but it’s on my bucket list. And I wanted to do it before the self-imposed deadline of May 24th is approaching so I better get to it.
41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
Oh my gosh is this a serious question. I do not want to choose between my loved ones. Seriously how could I. I guess I would like to spend the day with my husband. And if we manage to gather with my parents and my sister. If we are able to organize I would say we all travel to see my other sister. And while on the way I would FaceTime my best friend. And write a blog post to my online friends. And then I would cal my aunt and text a few other people. But let’s hope this is not ever happening because I am not sure at all if this is what I really wanted to do.
42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
No, I would not. If the question would be to become happy I might.
43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
Well, being alive is the bodily functions of keeping your heart beating and your lungs filling with air. It doesn’t say anything about the quality of live though. It’s the skeleton while living is the flesh and shape and color you add to being alive. Living is the experiences, the relationships, the dreams that are filling your soul.
44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
When my values are in jeopardy. When people are in danger.
And I really don’t have anything else to add. The longer I think, I believe it comes down to this.
45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
I think it’s mainly social conditioning that failing is a weakness.
Evolution would never have happened if our ancestors didn’t try new things. I am sure they failed. Maybe though it’s coming down to succeeding in the evolutional battle and so failing became an issue in order to survive. Maybe that is how social norm has been established? And over time what we see in todays society is the result of this exponential growth?
So much for today. I can not find a sufficient end to these thoughts. But I leave you with a question: Is there one of these questions you could easily answer in one sentences? Is there an answer you would disagree? Or maybe absolutely agree to?
This post is the ninth of the series to answer all 50 questions. A thing on my 100 things in 1000 days bucket list. You can find the previous answers here: Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4, Set 5, Set 6, Set 7, Set 8.

Hi Tobia! Those are some seriously tough questions, and I don’t even like to think about most of those things. I think you answered them very well and thoughtfully, and I agree with you. You must be feeling good to be in the home stretch of this project! It was a big undertaking. Will you be writing a summary post? I hope you do.
I am looking forward finishing the 50 question. They were hard and I went in blind.
As for the entire project, yes there will be a summery in May when it’s done. Hope I manage to check of a few more items.
These are really tough questions. I think I agree with what you’re answers. I think the fear of making a mistake is probably due to cring about what other people think and thinking they might think less of us.
Thank you Melissa. Yes, that question is so interesting. As kids we try so much and failing often and still eager and curious and the at some point it changes. The think less part definitely hits home.
Ohhhh those are great questions…
What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
Being alive for me is just going through the motions, going to work, coming home, taking care of the kids, days going by.
Truly living for me is being present, truly present, using the five senses, making sure I don’t just burn through my days. Appreciating the mundane consciously and with effort. Actually taking the time to be grateful for the here and now. Also, things like travel: international and road trips, taking myself out of my comfort zone, and trying new things.
Yes! All this. I agree. Being mindful even for the mundane.
I did these questions a long time ago, so I went back through my archives to see what I wrote and we had many of the same answers! I remember how hard it was to answer some of these questions, though. They are really thought-provoking!
They are. But I bet it’s fun to go back in years time and read the answers seeing where you’ve changed and what are values one sticks by.
