My 2014: Two years of Blogging

Wow! I can hardly believe that it has been two years since I am having this blog. This past year a lot has changed but than a lot has stayed the same.

Here comes my personal blogging recap of 2014. Read my one year experience here.

two years of blogging

I have written 76 blog post in 2014 and it’s slightly less than 2013 where I had 87. But still a bit more than once a week. Of course December was the month with the most posts as I was doing a DIY advent calendar. It was very stressful but so fun and even though all the planning started in June I never got around to the DIYs before the last week of November. However I’ve got so many ideas I could easily fill another calendar. My weakest month turned out to be May. I assume it’s due to another round of job applications.

I thought in my second year there will be more comments but there were less (244 comments). But it seems to happen on lot of blogs so I just ride the same wave. I am very grateful for my most active visitors. Hey San, Feliz, Jutta and Elisa. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to give feedback. My heart always takes an extra beat when I see a comment to be approved.

But I also want to thank my crowd following me on Twitter (125), Pinterest (178) and bloglovin (20). Twitter has been my favorite this year and I’ve joined a meet-up every Wednesday evening. It’s been a lot of fun and I am always looking forward to being part. You should join at 6pm (German time) under #altchat.

Just like last year the advent wreath DIY and ideas and the potato bread are very popular. Also lots of people stumble onto my blog through my cake pop recipes. Also quite popular are my mood boards specially the petrol one. Maybe I should have a look at it to finally make it spring to reality… However there were also posts I put a lot of thought and heart into but that didn’t seem to be interesting for you. Wonder why that is? Are you here for fun and don’t want to read “tough stuff” or “everyday life babble”? I could understand. Anyway, I will continue if I feel like it. It’s my blog after all.

I also had my first guest bloggers this year in February when I had a virtual winter wedding party. Thank you for being with me! And I also had my first give away but it was a total fail…well not for one person! I also started my photo challenge 12tel Blick but unfortunately I didn’t push through. I never managed going the same day every months and I also didn’t feel too inspired with the topic. So I quite at mid term. I think it’s sad but that’s just what happened. Maybe I find another project for 2015 because I really want to take more pictures. Any ideas?!
I also started a happiness project and I really had fun doing so. We’ll see if I keep that up… And I am sure there will be more “10 Things…” posts coming up.

During summer I put a lot of time into getting this blog a face lift. It all started with Katja’s little project and I am very grateful to have met San this way. I (finally) got my own logo and new colors and a few more functions. I love it and it is much more me.

And I also gathered my guts and wrote an email to a total stranger asking to meet for coffee. I am glad I did because I was meeting Jutta in April. And I was more than thrilled when meeting her again and Maike during there book party for Fotowohnsinn in October. I really enjoyed those face to face encounters.

So looking back on year two it’s been fun and great, inspiring and full of new things I’ve learned.

I am excited to start year three and looking forward to seeing you here again or maybe meeting a new face.

For now, get to 2015 all healthy and with fun.

Happy sparkling, Tobia

Wochen(glück)-Rückblick :: my happiness review #12

It is between the years and I’m loving this time. Time to look back and to reflect and relax. Make plans, finishing things up and just enjoying some quite moments.

My last week sure was happy. I am a Christmas gal (which you know by now, HA). And I love my Christmas tree all dressed in white and silver.

We got the white christmas balls for our winter wedding. Besides the little bells I made all our ornaments myself.

And then I still had my blogger advent calendar and there were so many fun things in there I want to show you the once I haven’t yet:

Advent calendar by blogger friends#3

#14: Leah made us some ornaments, #15: Inna recycled a Nespresso capsule into a candle holder, #16 Susanne made a fun little confetti garland, #17 was my responsibility so Barbara snug in some sugared almonds. I gave everyone a reindeer necklace. Check out my Dawanda Shop if you want one too! #18 Judith made a wipe leaf to clean the display – very handy!

Advent calendar by blogger friends#4#19 Nic bagged us some summer – flower seeds to throw around and a coaster #20 Monika drew us a delicate aquarelle #21 Daniella took care of beauty and made us scrubs – they are great and work, #22 Merle made us a tea light candle holder I got one with fishes, #23 Kerstin got creative with copper plumbing supplies and turned them to candle holders, #24 and Karen made us a keychain.

I really love my advent calendar and I really really hope I’ll be able to part of it next year. It was so much fun and I also got to know some new blogs…

I wish you another week of relaxation and enjoy the season. I will.
And once again I’ll add it to Denise’s collection of happiness.

Happy holidays, Tobia

Starry Night #24 & A very Merry Christmas * DIY Advent Calendar

Now the waiting has an end!
While I am writing this I listen to “Joy to the World” one of my all time Christmas Favorites!

And today I only have a comfy DIY.

Make yourself a star coffee with Gingerbread Spices!

star coffee

Cut yourself a star out of paper so that you are left with a star hole. Now all you need to do is make your coffee and add milk foam on it. Then place your cutout on top of you mug and sprinkle gingerbread spice (or alternatively cocoa) on top.

You are done.

Now I want to wish you a wonderful Merry Christmas, enjoy some time with your loved ones, eat and be merry.

Merry Christmas

Tobia

Starry Night #23 * Masking Tape Star * DIY Advent Calendar

Only one more night until Christmas Eve is here. I am excited. I am happy. And I am busy. Bet you are too.

So I figured let’s have a tiny tiny DIY if you still need a bit of color, festive feeling and something nice. Or maybe you are not even celebrating within your own four walls.

This DIY is for you – a Masking Tape Star!

All you need: masking tape

Now find your canvas! That can be door, a cupboard or shelf, maybe a window or even your table.

Make your stars and enjoy how fast and easy you have just decorated.

Have a great day. I hope there are not a lot of errands to run and more time to get into the Christmas groove.

Happy taping, Tobia

Starry Night #22 * Star Accessory * DIY Advent Calendar

Wow … It’s 4.30 am, I cannot sleep sure thing I write a post (really?!). Maybe I can’t sleep because I haven’t written my post yet?! We’ll never know.

Anyway, three Star DIYs left. It’s time to get dressed up – I figured. You are with me?!

Here comes my Star Accessory

You need:
♥ faux leather or any other cloths
♥ a hair clip
♥ nail polish
♥ glue
♥ rhinestones, beads or what ever you prefer

Do you know hair clips being coated in weird rubbery stuff that keeps coming of after certain time? I started painting mine with nail polish when that happens – gives you a whole new possibility of matching your wardrobe.

Anyway, paint your hair clip and let dry. In the meanwhile cut a star or two from your faux leather. I decided to stack two stars and a rhinestone by gluing it with textile glue. Let dry before attaching to your hair clip and … Oh no wait, you’re already done.

So are you still getting stuff organized and errands to cover or are you already in holiday mood?!
I’ll be wrapping presents and will (finally) get down to writing Christmas cards. I know… my oversea’s ones will be late but I might make the national ones. Go me!

What ever you do, enjoy and happy crafting, Tobia

PS: Wondering why this post goes up now? Well I am not that crazy as to get up at 4.30 am to take pictures… HA….
