Yeahhhh, I made it! As of May 24th time is up on my second 101 Things in 1000 days list. However, I gave myself a bonus week to finish some things up and boy did I push through.
Again, I had hoped for a bit more checked goals but overall I am very very happy how it turned out. I am proud of myself. But I have also learned a few things that I would do differently. I share those at the end of the post.
Oh and spoiler alert… there will be a third 101 goals in 1001 days list. It’s almost complete. I am on a roll you gals.
But before we get to that excitement let’s have a final goal check-in to my second 101 things in 1000 days bucket list.
Checked goals on the bucket list
Let’s start with all the goals that I have successfully crossed off the list since last check-in.
- Number 4: Write that will.
This was the main reason I gave myself a bonus week. I was not gonna carry it onto the next list. So I sat down and did the tough work on May 31st. It’s done for now but I think I will need to adapt a few things. It’s marinating right now. - Number 5. Set up a living will for medical emergencies.
Same as above – main reason to allow a bonus week. I did a living will as well as a health care proxy. The living will was emotionally very hard to do. But I pushed through and really sat with my thoughts. There were most definitely tears involved. Proud of me. - Number 6. Remember Mr. ♡ mobile phone number by heart – so in case of emergency I can actually reach him.
Last minute check. I think I can remember even through I only started to memorize the last couple of days. Lets hope in case of emergency its in my brain. - Number 7: Track spendings for a month every year. (3/3)
Checked that off in November last year when I published the final spending report. - Number 16. Read all subscribed newsletters for a months and unsubscribe when boring. Done in March 2025.
- Number 24: Do a road trip through Germany.
Counting our drive to Munster in January 2023 – 477 km from the eastern part to the western part of Germany. It was not directly what I had I mind when I set this goal but it also doesn’t feel like cheating. - Number 33: Have a solo trip somewhere out of country
Counting my Mystery Cruise here even though it was for work. Again I had something else in mind when setting this goal but this is legit too. - Number 34. Take a trip for our anniversary every year.
Last trip done in February 2025 to Gdanks and therefore checked. I still owe you a recap. Which will most likely come next February because who wants to see snow right now. Missed my window here.

- Number 39: Sleep under the stars.
I am counting napping outside when it’s dark even though I had a whole night in my mind when setting this goal.
- Number 40: Do three puzzles with 1,000 pieces.
I did my third puzzle over Easter Break 2025 and as a bonus had a 800 pice puzzle done during Christmas Break 2024 which I didn’t count. - Number 45: Achieve at least 40% of this list
Total count comes in at 55 goals which is 54,46 percent. - Number 48: Continue to blog.
Well, you are here. And you are reading so obviously something happened on this blog. - Number 58: Create a new self made calendar at least twice.
Had a freebie for you in 2022 and 2024. - Number 74: Continue to learn Spanish and achieve a 200 day streak at least once.
I am currently at day 294 continuous learning Spanish. I admit I used 20 streak freezes that put me at 274 which is still over the goal of a 200 day streak. - Number 78: Sign up for three classes at the community college (VHS)
March 2025 – Self Defense Class
May 2025 – Zumba Class (until July 2025)
July 2025 – Korean Calligraphy Talk with Workshop Session - Number 79: Do something daring (my own judgement).
Committing to the arctic expedition. Not yet officially booked but I am counting it as I am preparing for it. - Number 81: Stay *****
Done. But still not sharing what it is. - Number 83: No chocolate/cake/candy for four weeks each year.
November 2023, November 2024 and Lent for 2025 (not entirely but I believe 4 weeks happened.) - Number 86: Try some new exercise
Zumba as of May 2025 - Number 92: Answer the “50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind”
All done: → Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4, Set 5, Set 6, Set 7, Set 8, Set 9, Set 10 - Number 93: Donate to a charity 3 times outside of Christmas Eve.
Ok, so this is one I am feeling slightly like I cheated. However I do count it as checked. I joined a club that educates about democracy and I doubled my annual member dues. And I am regularly giving collection in church. I could always do more of course. - Number 95: Volunteer at Operation Christmas Child every year
Done in 2022 and 2024.
2023 had to be rescheduled and then all volunteering spots were gone.
I am still counting as we were trying to make it happen. And I donated the year I didn’t get to help out. - Number 96: Send 10 holiday cards (Christmas or Easter) every year to lonely elderly people.
2022 – 10 Christmas Cards
2023 – 10 Christmas Cards
2024 – 5 Easter Cars and 5 Christmas Cards
2025 – 5 Easter Cards ( I messed up the counting. It should have been 10 cards.)

- Number 100: Forgive myself for something.
I am counting coming to terms with how I neglected my body in past years and that I take responsibility now. - Number 101: Write a new list.
Needs final touches but it is almost done and will soon be published.
25 goals checked off in the last months. In the second year I have completed 18 goals. And in my first year 12 goals. A total of 55 goals. Yeah me!
Goals in progress on the 101 things in 1000 days bucket list
Things I have already been working on but did not manage to achieve in the set time frame. Here are some thoughts:
- Number 1: Re-take first aid course.
I have been looking at providers and course schedules. Cost will be lower than I thought 35€. Currently all that is stopping me is that I don’t want to go on my own. I don’t feel like doing the exercises with someone I don’t know. So I didn’t do it.
→ 50% Done - Number 10: Sell 50 things. (43/50) including wedding dress.
I tried. I really did. Right now I have 36 listings online. I missed a few months when I didn’t have any listings up and those are probably the ones now missing.
As for the wedding dress… sigh. I had it cleaned. Does that count towards progress?
→ 86% Done - Number 19: Go Kayaking.
Twice we were thinking about doing it for the family reunion but opted for something different. I would love to go again though.
→ 50% Done - Number 23: Explore five ice cream parlors preferably with Mr. ♥.
I checked out four.
→ 80% Done - Number 28. See 5 new places.
Four – Southern France, Mallorca – Spain, Tønder – Denmark, Gdansk – Poland
→ 80% Done

- Number 29: Go to drive-in movie.
There is just none anywhere remotely close to where we live. I researched.
→ 50% Done - Number 36: Read 200 books and manage to achieve 50% (98 books) of my Read around the World challenge
I have finished 174 books. When I sat the goal I was confident to reach the number but half way through decided that audiobooks are not counting. I could have done it if I decided it earlier.
→ 87% Done
I have read 53 books in my RatW challenge so far. Not even close to the 98 books I wanted to read. I was too ambitious here.
→ 54% Done
Tell me, why did I combine two major goals in one? - Number 38: Have no more than 20 unread books on my shelves when this challenge is over.
I started out with 65 books. I am currently counting 93 unread physical books. Last month I read specifically books from my shelves. This is just embarrassing. I am a hoarder.
→ minus 43% - Number 49: Update 5 old blog posts. (1/5)
Not specific enough. What means updating? Fixing a typo? ( I did that. A lot!)
Updating images or links?
→ 20% Done - Number 52: Cook a recipe from every cook book I own.
I cooked two specific recipes and reduce the number of cookbooks from 29 to 27. This goal was to go hand in hand with Number 8.
→ 13.8% Done - Number 56: Take a photo of each letter of the alphabet. Bonus all numbers too.
I tried. It was surprisingly hard once I didn’t live downtown anymore. I had a hard time coming across letters and numbers. No such things in the woods. (Letters 6/26 & Numbers 6/10)
→ 23% & 60% Done - Number 57: Make a list of 100 favorite quotes.
It was an extension of my 100 day project. I am stuck at day 23. Sad.
→ 23% Done - Number 64: Organize a cousins weekend.
I have put some wheels in motion to have a huge family reunion in honor of my grandparents 100th birthday in 2026. I would prolong the cousins gathering for that a year or two.
→ 25% Done - Number 73: Feel more self-confident.
This is a goal I most likely will never check off. I am proud of the progress I have made.
Booked a self defense course, working on my physical fitness helps, watched a course by Mel Robbins.
→ 75% Done - Number 75: Learn to identify 10 mushrooms. (1/10)
Well, I learned one (yellow cap – Suillus luteus) the hard way after my body decided that this particular one was edible for everyone but me. My interest took a dive after that. Was not a priority.
→ 10% Done - Number 87: Manage a better eating habit → master intuitive eating. & Number 88. Loose a couple of pant sizes. (1/2)
I am working on this. It is hard. And I think I will always struggle with it. However I am seeing progress in my eating habits and I can fit into pants I wasn’t able to wear in years.
→ 25% Done - Number 90: Manage to sleep more than 6,5 hours on average. (starting out at 6 hours and 3 minutes)
2024 – 6 hours and 22 minutes on average
2025 – 6 hours and 12 minutes on average
Overall progress but so so slow. I had hoped for more success here.
But then I tackled this issue and asked for the sleep study.
→ 30% Done

- Number 91: Have a Social Media free Sunday once a month
This is what I tracked: 3/4 2022, 6/12 2023, 6/12 2024, 3/4 2025
I try to stay of Social Media on Sundays. Overall my mindset is aware and has slightly shifted. However overall consumption might have increased. This goal was not practical for me as I sometimes have to check work accounts on Sundays. Or wanted to participate in the 100 day challenges. Need better goal setting here.
→ 40% Done - Number 97: Donate blood (even though I am scared) and find out blood type.
I looked up where I can do it. It’s rather far away and I would need to travel for an hour with public transport or ride my bike for 20 minutes. Since I have never done it and am not sure how my body can handle it I am a bit scared. But I really put lots of effort and research into it.
→ 50% Done
Overall I am working on these 20 of my goals. I think I will finish some up even though I am officially out of time. I could make it easy and put them back onto the next list. Mhm here is a thought. We’ll see.
Goals I didn’t even start to tackle
Things change. Priorities shift. Life moves on. Some goals no longer elevate my soul. Some are just impossible to get done. Here are the ones that didn’t even get touched and some additional thoughts,
- Number 2: Finalizing those retirement things I’ve started.
I guess you could count sending money into the depot as work in progress but that would be cheating as I had something else in mind here. It needs more diversity and a better strategy. - Number 8: Organize Recipes.
This was not a priority. But it is something that needs to be done because I have too many cook books I am not using and binders full of recipes I want to try one day. They all need to go into my digital recipe book. This task requires great diligence. - Number 11: Buy a piece of art.
When I looked nothing spoke to me. However, it was not on my mind too many times. One day I’ll invest in art. - Number 15: Find sufficient back-up strategy.
Boring goal so I didn’t want to do it. For now I have saved regularly on my hard drives. Not sufficient though. - Number 21: Visit Amsterdam.
No words. It’s a gift. I just have to set a date. - Number 25: See a firefly & Number 26 See the Aurora Borealis.
Nature was not cooperating. One day I will see a fire fly. And the Northern Lights. - Number 27: Take a mudflat hike (Wattwanderung).
We have not been visiting that area of Germany I the past years. - Number 30: Do something Christmasy with the family like visiting a Christmas market or a show.
Changed goal and then it was too late. This past year was just to busy and no one had time. - Number 32: Go to NYC during Christmas time.
Very vague goal. But I had to put it out to the universe. Did check dates and prices to get a feel but there was just no time slot in our schedules. - Number 37: Read one of Dads favorite books.
No excuse. Just didn’t do it. I have the five books he named at hand. Slightly bothering me that I didn’t tackle this one. - Number 43: Be a guest on a wedding (all my friends are married by now so this is random).
Vague goal I had no control over. - Number 44: Rewatch “Friends”, “Buffy” or “Angel”.
I did not care enough to tackle this. - Number 46: Dance in the rain.
Never the right opportunity.

- Number 53: Make a brush shirt. & Number 54: Sew a new maxi dress with the pattern that worked well previously.
Not a priority with the moves. And then I never had the time or clean desk to pull out the sewing machine. Sigh. Excuses. - Number 59: Create an individual memory game.
Another craft goal not completed. I am not happy that these are the ones that fell through the cracks. - Number 66: Take a trip with my best friend.
Dream goal that was not really in the books as long as her three kids are small. - Number 67: Have a dance with Mr. ♡
He refused when I asked. I may have not been vehement. - Number 68: Have a sisters date.
Just didn’t happen. Didn’t try really though. - Number 70: Spend a day with dad in the work-shop.
Sad. This could have been easy. - Number 76: Leave 10 handmade gifts at random places. (0/10)
Could have been easy. - Number 77: Have a no spend month.
Never fit into my plans. Birthdays, vacation, needed purchases. However I am in general not spending too much and since we are living farther from shops I spend less. - Number 81: Have *****
This makes me sad. - Number 84: Have a detox week.
I did not put myself as a priority because I know the about great benefits. And yet didn’t do it. - Number 98: Sent flowers/gift to someone for no reason.
Apparently I can not send flowers if there is no reason. Every time I looked at flowers and figured so and so would like that I wondered what the reason was. Why she and not someone else. Again flaw in my goal setting or getting to know myself better. Next time I would add a bunch of names in a jar and just draw one.

And with this progress pie chart we are done– the last goal check-in to my current 101 things in 1000 days bucket list. Or better I am done. Thanks so much fro following along and cheering me on.
As I said I am already working on my third bucket list. It’s pretty much done. Just a few more spots are open. Which of my untouched goals should I re-add? Which goal would be a goal you put on your list? Which one would you never ever put on a list? Do you have a bucket list? Have you ever done a Project Zero or 101 goals in 1000 days? Will you join me in and create your own list?

I’m pretty sure that you were the one to inspire me to start my own list, I’d done one many years ago and not followed through with it. I liked reading about your thoughts on your goals and why some of them didn’t get completed. I know there are things on my list that won’t happen and that will guide me when I’m writing my next list.
Hmmm … I think you should keep £25 and £26 on the list, I mean it needs nature’s cooperation but being on the list keeps it front of mind. If you can it would be great to do #70 and #37, but it’s your list. One good thing is that you now know more about what you really want to do and make a priority … or maybe what you don’t want to do and make a priority.
Yea, I think you mentioned I inspired you when you started your list. So fun.
I will definitely keep 25 & 26 on the list. And I hoping the northern lights will happen during my arctic trip next spring.
As for 37 & 70 those are ones I should have committed too. The book will be a toughness and something that needs time. But it will make me understand my dad much better so it will happen but it needs to have right timing. The Workshop I am not sure if I didn’t do it. Or maybe that happened before I started the list and wanted to do it again.
I totally agree having such an extensive bucket list is a pretty good way to sort through long term priorities. It’s very inspiring to me and a constant reminder where I want to head in life and course correct.
Congratulations, Tobia! This is quite an amazing bucket list, and you are amazing to keep track of everything so well! To be honest, I’m not a bucket list kind of person. I’m happiest when I go with the flow and see what happens. Maybe that would drive you crazy! Ha! Ha! If I really and truly want something, then I’ll make it happen. I do enjoy reading your list and your thoughts behind each item. You make it work for yourself, and you accomplish some extraordinary things!
You gotta know what is working for you. If lists stress or intimidate you or even make you feel like you have to do something it’s definitely not the right way to approach things that bring you joy .
I personally feel like if I just go with the flow I rarely get anything done at all.
